Newtown

An early, closely built Wellington working class suburb, Newtown has undergone a degree of gentrification and is home to a diverse population of immigrants, students and young professionals. Home to Government House, the Zoo and Wellington Hospital, it is well served by cafés and restaurants. Newtown Park located next to the Zoo is a venue for athletics and football.
