Hot water from the adjacent Wairakei geothermal power plant is harnessed at a farm that grows giant Malaysian freshwater prawns. The farm is next door to Huka Jet.
Outside, and throughout the park are oversized statues of the attraction's mascot, Shawn the Prawn.
