Wairakei Terraces Thermal Pools

This is a special type of hotpool because it is in an industrial setting, not that you would know when relaxing in a perfectly comfortable pool surrounded by native bush. Wairakei Resort is just across the road and the Golf Course is next door.

Right next to the Wairakei Geothermal Power Station, the pools use superfluous clear silica laden waters for swimming and recreation. The entire area has long been famed for therapeutic benefits of the thermal waters, and this pool complex is at the heart of it.

The terraces are on a short walkway within the complex, and are spectacular, reminiscent of the famed Pink and White Terraces of Rotomahana, lost in the Tarawera Eruption.
