Wairakei

Wairakei is the thermal area just to the north of Taupo township which was part of the initial attraction to the area for Tuwharetoa Iwi then Pakeha.

After various revisions the attractions here are now mainly comprised of the Wairakei Thermal Resort, Wairakei Terraces Thermal Health Spa, and various tourist activities, the Craters of the Moon area being the place to go for a look at thermal activity, or the Wairakei Thermal Valley.
