34 Milne Street, Hunterville, Manawatu
For Hunterville as for other similar towns having a court house was a sign of maturity. A deputation to a visiting Minister of the Crown in 1892 lead led to construction in 1895. At the time Hunterville with its sawmills and the nearby construction of the North Island Main Trunk Railway was a busy place with a large single male labouring population
Now the building is the headquarters of the local historical society and a museum. Tools and farming equipment are on display. There are a few other buildings out the back including a farmers cottage, a barn and blacksmith room.
