The design of this early 1900s Villa Style Homestead is by Christchurch Architect J C Maddison. High up on the Heritage List for it's links to the families and history of the area, the thirty four room homestead is decorated externally with a mass of scrolling woodwork.
The fountain in the grounds was made for the New Zealand International Exhibition of 1906-1907.
This one is in private hands so has been very low profile for many decades and may not be visited. Since 1955 the family here have been successfully farming Angus cattle.
