170 Willis Street, Te Aro, Wellington City
Wellington’s Upper Willis Street is graced by two of the country’s finest late Victorian wooden Gothic churches. Anglican St Peters was built in 1879 and Presbyterian St John’s in 1885. Both were designed by prominent Wellington architect Thomas Turnbull.
Spinks Cottage in the grounds of St Johns was once a school for young ladies. Built in the 1860s it survives as an example of the domestic architecture of that time.
