Paekawakawa Bush Reserve

Wellington City Walks

Lawyer Robert Logan had the idea of creating the reserve and led it until he disappeared from Red Rocks, near Owhiro Bay, in late 2010. He was never found. Three years later the Island Bay Natural Heritage Trust found sufficient funds to open the reserve which covers 1.5 hectares and forms part of the city to sea walkway. It is maintained by volunteers, who do pest work and track work.

It is now protected under an Open Space Covenant with the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust.
