355 The Parade, Island Bay, Wellington City
Island Bay Divers South Coast location places it close to Wellington's top dive sites. They provide dive training and hire or sell equipment. They also operate as a community-feel club, running cool family events like 4WD outings along the South Coast tracks, information sessions, and a little cafe on their premises. On 13 November 2005 the Sink F69 Trust sank the former New Zealand Navy frigate Wellington as a dive attraction off the South Coast. The frigate, which has since broken into three parts, lies 450 metres offshore and 20 metres below the surface between Houghton Bay and Island Bay. Taputeranga Marine Reserve is a favourite spot for Saturday morning club dives but they visit a variety of Wellington dive areas even in the winter.
