Empire Cinema and Eatery

In May 2015 the Island Bay community was appreciative when their long standing local cinema (first opened in 1925) reopened after its previous proprietor had gone bankrupt. Screening a mix of art house and mainstream films, the refurbished Empire includes a redesigned eatery, fitting in with the trend to offer a bar and luxury seating making the cinema a destination for the local populace. Initially about 10% of the films will be in the art house category.
