735 Matakitaki Road, Six Mile, Tasman

Six Mile Walk

Tasman Walks

A disused power house where the plant operated for 54 years adds to the interest of this walk. The station made use of a water race, pipes, and water rights from the Six Mile Creek gold claim. It was officially opened in January 1922. One of the driving forces for the station was the need to produce electricity for electric milking machines. The walk takes 1 to 1.5 hours. It starts and finishes by the power house.
