West Coast Road, Springfield-Arthur's Pass, Selwyn

Klondyke Corner

In coaching days, a hut here provided shelter for travellers who couldn’t reach Bealey when the river was running high.

The Goat Pass track begins/ends here, so it serves as an overnight stop for competitors in the famous one or two-day Coast to Coast race held in February every year.

Goats Pass. East branch of the Bealey., 1866 ?, by Nicholas Chevalier. Gift of Mrs Caroline Chevalier, the artist's widow, England, 1912. Te Papa (1912-0044-154)
