Grand Hotel

Invercargill's Grand Hotelis these days an affordable accommodation provider, yet it is no less Grand and remains centerpiece on Dee Street and important member of the set that are Invercargill's array of interesting Heritage buildings.

Dating to 1912, this was the second contribution architect CJ Brodrick made to the town in it's early 20th Century heyday and a compliment to the Alexandra Buildings across Dee Street. He went on to design the National Bank, Troopers Memorial, Bank of New South Wales and several other Invercargill landmarks.

Good enough for Queen Elizabeth in 1954, the Grand will surely hold her own even once the Licencing Trust's new tourist Hotel is built on the opposite corner.
