291 Stuart Street, Dunedin Central, Roslyn, Dunedin City
Here lies the world's longest Piano. And here works it's maker Adrian Alexander Mann.
As a teenager, and an intense young musician, Mr Mann began working on an instrument he intended to become the world's longest piano, and he succeeded. His motivation, he says, was to hear the note created by a very long bass string, and the project grew from there. It is an international curiosity, and a must see for tourists interested in Pianos.
The organic and fascinating process of the build, supported by his community, is documented on his website, along with the many successful concerts played upon the piano, including recitals by Dimiri Vassilakis and Michael Houston.
Now with a showroom and workshop downtown, Mr Mann, still a young man, works at building, repairing and tuning Pianos for local, national and international clients. He has even built some of his own tools, and his own tail lift trailer for piano transport.
