This is not your average playground … no no no … this is serious business. It’s HUGE! And there is so much variety, I’m not entirely sure as parent, how you are meant to pry your kids from this land of joy and thrills. I had to do some serious bargaining to get Ezra out, and it’s not hard to understand why he doesn’t want to leave!
HIGHLIGHT
I’ve been to a few playgrounds with some amazing water play features but this one really does take the cake. There are fountains, waterfalls, canals, if you can imagine it, it’s probably here. It takes up about half of the entire play area, the scale is immense. You could really loose an entire sunny afternoon in here!
WHAT WE LIKED
- The sheer amount of just stuff to do here, all the activities big or small that you can think off.
- There is quite a of free parking just around the corner in the parks dedicated car park, otherwise there is plenty of street
- It’s situated conveniently close to basically everything in Christchurch CBD. Within walking distance to cathedral square and all the goodness the city has to offer.
- There are shade sales! Still think it’s the most underrated feature of any playground.
- All the soft mats, all the play areas are fully decked out in soft mats, big plus. Keeps the shoes from getting all dirty and messy during winter.
- Lots of green spaces next to the playground to sit down or lay out a picnic mat.
- Very modern and tidy bathrooms right on site.
- Comes with it’s own ice cream and coffee trucks!
WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE?
- It’s in Christchurch, so for me, that means a flight and some nights of accomodation just to enjoy it - I’ll be back for sure.
- It gets EXTREMELY busy, might loose a child in there, keep an eye on em!
- Not really the best for smaller kids.
- It’s not fenced off from the roads on any sides.
- It’s not fenced off from the river which is a lot closer.
