44 Walsh Street, Reefton, Buller
This elegant obelisk is a Reefton Landmark, it holds a place in the heart of the town, away from Broadway and the highway.
Sharing the reserve with a striking band rotunda and a friendly children's playground, the memorial is respectfully fenced, flanked by mountains which ever direction it is viewed from. The low border garden is always immaculate. Thought to have been constructed in about 1920, the names of lost soldiers from the Second World War were later added to those from the Great War.
The Park was named for King George. In classic West Coast fashion, mixing it up, the row of buildings on the other side of Walsh Street are the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St Stephen's Anglican Church and then the Catholic School.
