47 Bridge Street, Reefton, Buller
Constructed in 1872, this was a significant building in a town central to a region of gold-bearing quartz reefs, which after the decline of the Hauraki field became the most important gold winning place in the country. A resident warden representing the colonial administration issued miners' rights, registered mine leases and settled mining disputes.
