Reefton Distilling Company

Reefton Distilling Company began here in 2017, and it takes itself very seriously, joining a growing stable of New Zealand distilleries in rural locales.

There is a lot to recommend a visit to this retailer, beginning with the ultra shabby chic of the premises, a genuine relic of a store in a great sometimes sunny) spot. It just off Broadway on Smith Street near the Reefton Community Centre and Cinema. If you are into your spirits, there's probably even more reason to darken their door.

Products are thoroughly researched and branded, each with a personality taken from Reefton and it's surrounds, distilled, bottled and labelled on site. Together, their products, botanical gins, fruit liqueurs, vodka have already racked up a big stack of medals from the World Spirits Competition and the New Zealand Spirits Awards, giving a hint that they might taste pretty good. The Whiskey might not be ready yet.

In 2020, Reefton Distilling Company went the way of many international purveyors of spirits and turned their hand and equipment to creating bespoke hand sanitiser. Tours are available, including one with a bushwalk, and are reasonably priced.
