Wellington Zoo

New Zealand's oldest zoo, founded in 1906 and owned by Wellington City Council is a great place to take the kids. A recent innovation has been an animal hospital easily viewed by visitors. "The Nest" (Te Kohunga) Next on the list is some serious landscaping, designed by Isthmus, to be rolled out over a ten year period. The café here is on of the MOJO chain.

TRANSPORT Bus route 10 runs from Wellington Railway Station through Newtown to the Zoo . Bus route 23 runs from Norwich Street, Wadestown to Houghton Bay stopping outside the zoo in Newtown.
