The house was designed by Gray Young for Sir Truby and Lady Isabella King - founders of the Plunket Society. All on one level in the Arts and Crafts style, the 1925 house is notable for the orientation of the main rooms each of which gets the morning sun. Thesurrounding garden planted by Sir Truby is open to the public and provides splendid views in a number of directions. Plantings include pine, azaleas, rhodendendrons and roses. The Truby King Mausoleum is included in the garden.
