Fraser Street, Clyde, Central Otago
A wonderful collection of stationary engines. And telephones. And batteries And helpful knowledgeable locals!
All in an old Railway station and surrounding buildings. The station itself is not the oldest in the scheme of New Zealand's railways, it was completed in 1907. The Railway is no more, it has been converted to the Otago Rail Trail Cycleway, so this is along the route.
In 2017, the locals won a Rail Heritage Award for their restoration of the station, which also now hosts a bicycle repair workshop, related to the cycleway.
The Clyde Historical Walk will take you around other interesting heritage sites in the old gold town.
