52 Stuart Street, Dunedin Central, Dunedin Central, Dunedin City
Ornate and elegant, on the outside at least, the home of Dunedin's newspaper is approaching her centenary. Designed by renouned architect Edward Anscombe and constructed in 1928, it is a four storey tribute beauty that fits with the surrounding historic precinct, inclulding the Law Courts and Railway Station.
Allied Press own the Otago Daily Times, New Zealand's longest serving daily paper, and several other South Island Newspapers, but it was the Dunedin Star that the building was originally intended for. It changed hands with newspaper mergers and buyouts. The original Otago Daily Times building is no more.
The premises is also the home of Channel 39, the local TV station.
The company's motto is "Optima Durant" or "Quality Endures".
