Highbury-Aro Valley, Wellington City
Wellington's Central Park is not in Manhattan but in Brooklyn. It is one of the oldest public reserves in Wellington, Te Papa describes it's history.
It lies on a north facing slope looking to Wellington City, and forms part of the city to sea walkway. Restoration in 2008, which included the curved bridges over the Moturoa stream, also gave the park a popular playground, an outstanding feature of which is the 50 metre flying fox.
There are toilets. Some of the walking tracks within the park are steep, there is a deep gully on the western side. On the other side is the Renouf Tennis Centre.
