Frank Kitts Park - Children's Playground

Named for a Labour Politician who served for a long time as Mayor of Wellington, Frank Kitts Park is a little bit of everything for every sort of Wellingtonian. The park itself was fully formed as a recreation area in the early 1980s and has grown in popularity since. Children of all ages enjoy the popular playground with it's lighthouse shaped tower and nautical theme. This part of the waterfront sees all sorts of foot traffic as well as cyclists, rollerbladers and other recreation seekers. A series of small stores under the nearby bridge provide extra attraction and interest is provided by various installations including the foremast from the sunken Wahine. In the summer months attractions and activities like Gyroscopes and horizontal bungy set up to add to the fun. A popular coffee spot, meeting place, family picnic area and also nice for office workers to take their lunch. Wellington City Council want to add a Chinese Garden and further landscape the park according to their 2015-2018 plan.
