Travel to the South Island. Catch the Interislander and sit back and enjoy a 3 1/2hour trip out of Wellington Harbour, across Cook Strait and into Queen Charlotte Sound to Picton.
The variety of scenery is great and the boat travels very slowly through the Sound. Wait in Picton for a return sailing or overnight there. The top of the South is very beautiful. If children get tired of the boat there is always a movie to be had on board. Booking for the trip is essential.
