Chateau Tongariro

Built by the Fletcher Construction Company in 1929 and taken over by the Government in 1931 when its owner the Tongariro Park Tourist Company went into liquidation, this stylish looking and prominently located hotel provides a focus for Whakapaka village, the centre of the Tongariro National Park. The architect of the Georgian style hotel was Humphrey Hall.
