Waiuku Former Court House

Waiuku Courthouse, which used to be on Court Street, is now on Belgium Street, sometimes known as Domain Street, and it is also in Massey Park. It no longer houses the Court, it is the home of Search and Rescue, and also Coastguard.

Confused yet? Waiuku is not. This compact and serviceable building means a lot to the compact and serviceable community, and they have been going strong together for over 130 years. Heritage NZ explains the reasons the building is special and all the things that have gone on there. It found it's new home in the park in 1974, the Coastguard and Search and Rescue services happily operating from this base since then. An 100th birthday party was held for the building in 1983.
