Lake Mahinerangi Dam and Power Station

The hydro dam was completed in 1924. The power station (Waipori 1) is part of the Waipori Hydro Power Scheme. The scheme comprises a network of four dams and power stations and produces a maximum output of 84 MW. The scheme was intended to power the gold dredges on the Waipori River. It started generating electricity in 1907.
