The Domain, in the centre of the town, covers an area of 44 hectares and includes rolling lawns, formal gardens, barbecue and picnic areas. Many mountain and bush walks start near the hot pools complex.
Te Aroha's mineral water rates as some of the hottest in New Zealand at 38-41°C. There is a leisure pool for swimming and a mineral spa pool complex for therapy and massage. There is also an outdoor public pool in a bush setting which is popular with locals and visitors.
