Science Alive! - National Science Centre

Time will reveal yet another silver lining for the people of the Garden City by way of a new National Science Centre.
New Zealand has never had one of these, but was previously home to 'Science Alive' which was resident in the old Christchurch Railway Station on Moorhouse Ave. With the loss of this venue to earthquakes, the organisation has combined with New Zealand Science-Technology Roadshow Trust to secure the Durham Street Law and Court buildings. These buildings became vacant in 2017 with the emergence of the Christchurch Justice Precinct further down Durham Street, though it may be some time before the transformation sees the light.
The trust needs partners in science to get the Centre underway and to secure tenants to populate the remainder of the 8200sqm building. Other collateral spinoffs for Christchurch should be another injection of life to the Victoria Square Area, which is also under development to the Okataro Ltd.
