Fraser Domain

A popular picnic spot which has toilet facilities and a barbecue area. Right by the babbling Fraser River and very calm and peaceful. The domain was used for freedom camping for a long time but Council closed off this opportunity in 2014 to keep it a happy picnic place. The Earnscleugh area is now subject of Council attention as Heritage New Zealand has recognised it as of historical importance thanks to its history of gold dredging, see the news story below.
