Volcanic Loop Highway, Chateau Tongariro, Ruapehu
A thrilling and popular mountain bike ride at intermediate level on old logging tracks. It is 46 km and takes 3 to 6 hours. From start to finish there is an overall fall of 570 metres. Bikers are advised to respect the remoteness and equip themselves appropriately with spare food and clothes. DOC have signposted the route.
