2540 Pipiriki Raetihi Road, Pipiriki-Raetihi, Ruapehu
Its verandah, dormers, finials and rusticated weatherboard are typical of the architecture of colonial cottages, but this building of the 1880s is a particularly charming example of its type. It was there when steamboat travel on the Wanganui was in its heyday and nearby are traces of Pipiriki House, a 1909 accommodation house which burned down in 1959. Nearby you will find the remains of an old river boat.
