181-191 Remuera Road, Epsom-Remuera, Auckland
FULL DAY GRAND AUCKLAND VOLCANOES TOUR
Walking Tracks will take you to the top of this much modified volcanic cone which is now a water reservoir. The 143 m high cone had been named after Captain William Hobson though it now bears the Maori name Ohinerau. Remuwera was originally the name of a pa site on the hill that was also utilised for kumara and food gardens. The name Remuwera means the burnt edge of a flax garment. It is a good place to view the Auckland topography and look for other volcanic cones such as Mt Eden, One Tree Hill, Rangitoto and Mt Wellington.
