59A Onepu Road, Kilbirnie - Lyall Bay, Wellington City
A whole suburban block of rare flat Wellington land is here given over to a warehouse which is crawling towards it's centenary in the business of keeping Wellingtonians well transported. Like Auckland, Dunedin and Christchurch, the Capital was a tram town, with horses replaced by motorised trams, and the first 'trackless tram' or trolleybus, imported in 1924, and the trams themselves phased out in the 1960s.
Now Wellingtonians travel on a mixture of modern trolley buses and diesel buses, and this is where they live, in the same proud home that was built for the original trams.
Send us your photos or write in with your information about the history of Wellington's Trams and Trolley Buses.
