A Post Quake triumph by Jasmax architects. Built on the site of the eternally popular Greek Santorini restaurant, this new seven story styled triangle of rippling glass has surprised and impressed locals and the architectural community. Jasmax used the very latest in base isolation to protect the building, especially important in this riverside site where many older buildings did not survive. The design cues were also taken from the Avon river, the curves are to complement it's meandering path. Completed and tenanted long before many other post quake projects, Cantabrians are proud of this landmark in the rebuild. The cafe downstairs doesn't attempt to keep pace with the heady, wine fuelled, plate smashing dancefloor of the old Santorini, instead treating customers to lunches with style and views.
