159 Oxford Terrace, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch, Christchurch City

Former City Council Chambers Our City O-Tautahi

This beautiful Queen Annes Style building is by S Hurst Seager and was built in 1887. Seager had just returned from England and was still in his twenties. Like many Christchurch civic decisions the choice of Seager's design was controversial. The building suffered significant damage in the Christchurch earthquakes. It is currently closed - the building has been stabilised and repair and strengthening options are being investigated.
