The Coromandel Gold Stamper was commissioned by the New Zealand Government and opened in 1900. It's purpose was to process gold ore from over 65 different mines in the Coromandel area. It is powered by New Zealand's biggest working water wheel. Tours are available every day in summer. In winter you need to book. See the website for details.
