Wellington Airport Control Tower

Once the Wellington airport control tower was on a suburban street surrounded by houses, now it is in the car park of a shopping centre. The striking design with the tower appearing to be leaning into Wellington’s prevailing northerly wind is by Studio Pacific Architecture. Designed to withstand earthquakes, the building sits on base isolators.
