Holly Homestead - Franz Josef

In the thick bush and rough mining country that was South Westland of the 19th and 20th Centuries, accommodations were small, temporary and not well built. It wasn't until 1926 that one Franz Josef family raised a proper homestead on the main road with two stories. Built from native timber in the Arts and Crafts style, Holly Homestead is the result. Now serving as an upmarket B and B, this is the option for travellers who prefer this type of accommodation. Reports are that the WiFi and shower are great, not something that can be reported everywhere on the coast, and both a bonus in the inclement environment.
