66 Tory Street, Te Aro, Wellington City
Early in 2018 Chef Sean Marshall, of Matterhorn and other culinary repute, shaped Monte Cervino from the 55 years of history, goodwill and fame of The Matterhorn, done out of it's long-term premises by earthquake risk.
Monte Cervino, (Matterhorn in Italian) opened with a hiss and a roar in the former home of Wellington's Lone Star on Tory Street, the bottom two floors of the refurbished 1922 'Globe Building.' The goal is to create a stylish and comfortable, larger Italian eating house for Wellington, and early reports are impressive. An unheard-of full house of stars from the local food critic, Mr Burton, was published in the newspaper and folks flocked in, ratings sky high and staying that way.
