Hope Gibbon's Building

J M Dawson was the architect for this 9 storey steel framed concrete building in stripped classical style (1924-27). A fire in 1952 in the five storey annex used for National archives destroyed the earliest records of the Lands and Survey Department, the Marine Department, the Ministry of Works, and the Labour Department.

A seismic upgrade took place in 2015 involvingTennentBrown architects.
