A back stairwell in a university building has been converted into a dramatic art gallery by Wellington architect, Ian Athfield. The Adam Art Gallery have formal responsibility for the care of the Victoria University's art collection. The successful space also hosts talks on art and art related themes by artists and academics. Pataka means storehouse and has become an important term in naming of New Zealand galleries in the Millenium.
