25 Tuhua Road, Te Mapara, Waitomo
On the north side of Tuhua Rd you can find a notice board and a very un pc sign saying, "This cairn marks the chapel site of the Wesleyan Mission established here at Whakatumutuma by the Rev Frederick Miller Sent Out by the London Missionary in 1840. Here at this lonely place, this Godly man with his brave wife lead a ferocious primitive race from Heathen Darkness to the Light of Christian Civilisation. Died at his post of duty in 1848 aged 32 years. The Cross on the Hilltop marks his Tomb. 'Servant of God, Well Done' this Centennial Memorial was dedicated on May 23rd 1959."
