Waihora Lagoon

Take a gravel road off Highway 32 and turn left up a sharp rise to the car park after about 4 km. The road is not recommended for "saloon vehicles". A short walking track leads to a beautiful lagoon surrounded by rimu and kahikatea. Light levels can be low so take a fast film or a tripod if you wish to take photos. Notices rightly admonish you to exercise care of the vegetation in this special place.
