12 Thames Street, South Hill, Waitaki
Mason and Clayton were the architects responsible for this Italianate building. Built of Oamaru stone in 1864 it was the first permanent post office in the town. And it is now a Category 1 historic place. Its successor was built next door in 1884. The building now serves a useful purpose as the home to a popular restaurant "The Last Post" serving wholesome food.
