State involvement in viticulture was pioneered here in 1902, by government appointed viticulturist Romeo Bragato. The precursor of what is becoming one of New Zealand major industries. Rongopai Wines were produced here from 1932 until being bought out by Babich Wines. The latest tenant of the facility is Invivo, made famous by producing a sauvignon blanc for British TV host Graham Norton. The building is Heritage NZ listed.
