Hauraki Rail Trail

New Zealand's easiest riding cycle trail is accessible from Thames, Paeroa, Te Aroha and Waihi/Waikino. The trail follows the path of two historic railway lines running from Thames to Paeroa, Waikino and Te Aroha, while a new path will link Waikino to Waihi. The Hauraki Rail Trail Charitable Trust is responsible for the maintenance of the 82km trail. The trail is free to use for the general public. In addition commercial guided tours and bike hire are available.
