Whitianga i-site Visitor Information Centre

Whitianga is the main settlement of Mercury Bay - an area of the Coromandel with outstanding beaches and bays. Whitianga is the home of the Mercury Bay Boating club and the departure point for big game fishing enthusiasts. See the website for more information. From Whitianga a passenger ferry provides a short trip across to the Ferry Landing. A twenty minute return walk to the south following the gravel track will take you up the 24m Whitianga Rock where the Whitianga Pa once guarded the estuary entrance. Ocean Leopard Tours will take you to visit Mercury Bays top beaches including Lonely Bay and the stunning Shakespeare Cliff, Cooks Beach, Hahei, Hot Water Beach and of course the wonderful Cathedral Cove where “The Chronicles of Narnia & Prince Caspian” was filmed.
