71 School Terrace, Springfield-Arthur's Pass, Selwyn
Sitting in the heart of the Southern Alps, this National Park lies on a road of historical significance that links Canterbury province in the east with the wild West Coast The pass was found by Arthur Dudley Dobson and chosen by his father as the road route from Canterbury to the West Coast. The Canterbury Province was anxious not to miss out on trade with the gold fields which was mainly with Australia. At the time the direct link with Australia was through the river ports on the West Coast but these were very hazardous.
